World War Two Made A Huge Effort To Encourage Us To Scrap It!

A Unique Collection of US WW2 Poster for the Conservation and Recycle Efforts

WW2 Posters Encouraging Scrapping and Conservation

According to the National WW2 Museum, Persuading Americans to support the war effort became a wartime industry, just as important as producing bullets and planes. The U.S. government produced posters, pamphlets, newsreels, radio shows, and movies. Part of that effort was to  get citizens to conserve resources and contribute to the shortage of much needed items such as metals.

This effort was not just for the US but countries like the UK as well.
Some pretty creative images followed world wide as people were encouraged to reuse and conserve many everyday items.  Here are some from the US created by the Office of War Information (OWI):
