Let's Clear The Air About World Ozone Day

Sept 16 is International World Ozone Day Each Year

The layer of the Earth's atmosphere that surrounds us is called the troposphere. The stratosphere, the next higher layer, extends about 10–50 kilometers above the Earth's surface. Stratospheric ozone is a naturally occurring gas that filters the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Today, there is widespread concern that the ozone layer is deteriorating due to the release of pollution. Such deterioration allows large amounts of ultraviolet B rays to reach Earth, which can cause health problems in humans and harm animals as well.

What is World Ozone Day, What is the Ozone, and Why is it in Danger? Quick facts.

What is the Hole Ozone story?

Learn about the Ozone Layer  and why we need to clear the air with Planetpals Dusty on Planetpals.com.

It's Car Free Day Sept 22 - Can You Find Another Way to Get There?

If not, use these tips to save gas!

Best Tips Ever To Help You Save Gas! #conserve #CarFreeDay #Earthday Everyday

Car Free Day began in 2000 as a grassroots movement by the World Carfree Network to reduce or eliminate the use of cars and to lessen road and parking space to clear it for public use.

Cities from Chicago to Bangcock are taking part in Carfree Day; by stepping up public transportation and with events to bring awareness.

Sure, you can drive a hybrid, take public transportation, carpool, ride a bike, and have your kids join a "walking schoolbus", but what if you have to drive?

Here is list of 15 quick tips to help you save on GAS:

  • Combine errands, and trips.
  • Service your car it will keep it at peak performance
  • Go lightly on the gas pedal
  • Don't pump your brakes
  • Don't idle for long periods of time
  • Don't use drive up windows...park and drive in
  • Empty the car and trunk of extra items
  • Put items in the trunk instead of your roof
  • Drive 55 mph instead of 65 (you save 15%!)
  • Don't use your air conditioning
  • Use your 5th gear whenever possible
  • Keep your tires properly inflated
  • Buy a Fuel Saver of some kind
  • Use the lowest octane gas
  • Don't rev your engine

Car Free Day is a nice concept, but let's all remember to conserve everyday!
