Date And Time of Full Moons for 2023

Did you know?  Most of the time, the full moon isn't perfectly full.

We always see the same side of the moon, but part of it is in shadow, due to the moon's rotation. Only when the moon, Earth and the sun are perfectly aligned is the moon 100% full, and that alignment produces a lunar eclipse.

And sometimes — once in a blue moon — the moon is full twice in a month (or four times in a season, depending on which definition you prefer).

You can learn more about moon phases at Planetpals.com.

Well, January 6,  we are looking at a full moon in the astrological sign of Cancer, and January moon is commonly called a WOLF Moon. There are many other ancient moon names for every month.

A Super Blood Moon To Color The Autumn Sky

It's another phase of the moon again Pals!

This moon will appear 14 times larger.

There is a total eclipse of the moon on the night of September 27-28, 2015. According to Nasa: On the night of Sept. 27 and into the early hours of Sept. 28, the full Moon will glide through the shadow of Earth, turning the Harvest Moon a golden-red color akin to autumn leaves.

The action begins at 9:07 PM Eastern Time on the evening of Sept 27th when the edge of the Moon first enters the amber core of Earth’s shadow.  For the next three hours and 18 minutes, Earth's shadow will move across the lunar disk.

Totality begins at 10:11 PM Eastern Time.  That’s when the Moon is completely enveloped by the shadow of our planet.  Totality lasts for an hour and 12 minutes so there is plenty of time to soak up the suddenly-red moonlight.

Is It A Super Moon?
No, but February's new moon is!

According to Earthsky.org y that definition, the year 2015 has a total of six supermoons. The first supermoon, for 2015, will come with the January 20 new moon. The new moons on February 18 and March 20 will also be supermoons. The full moons of August, September and October will be supermoons, too, by Nolle’s definition. Thus, the full moon supermoons – aka near-perigee full moons – in 2015:
Full moon of August 29 at 18:35 UTC
Full moon of September 28 at 2:50 UTC
Full moon of October 27 at 12:05 UTC
The full moon on September 28, 2015, will present the closest supermoon of the year (356,896 kilometers or 221,754 miles). What’s more, this September 28, 2015 full moon will stage a total lunar eclipse, concluding a series of Blood Moon eclipses that started with the total lunar eclipse of April 15, 2014.
